Our salon industry is simply the best.

After spending forty years as a salon owner, and now having the privilege of working with salon owners all over the country, I believe that more today than I ever have.

The people who make up this industry are hardworking, passionate, generous people. We celebrate one another. We cheer each other on. We step in when someone is struggling. We share ideas.

And yet, for all of that generosity, there is one conversation we rarely have with each other — the conversation about what comes next.

Not next quarter. Not next hire. Not next location. But next chapter.

The chapter where the business you've poured your life into becomes something more than a job. Something transferable. Something that can outlast you. Something that can fund the rest of your life.

Most owners don't avoid the conversation because they aren't smart enough to have it. They avoid it because no one ever taught them how to start it.

That's what this journal is for.

To start the conversation — gently, honestly, and without pressure. Because the truth is, the earlier you begin, the more options you'll have when the time comes.

You don't have to be ready to leave to start planning. You just have to be wise enough to look up from the chair, the schedule, and the daily fires, and ask a bigger question: what is all of this actually building toward?

My hope is simple. That you'll leave with greater awareness. Greater confidence. And a clearer understanding of the possibilities that may already be waiting for you.

Because once you begin the conversation, you'll never look at your business quite the same way again.
